About Casa Eva Luna

Our accommodation is located in an area with detached traditional Indian houses inhabited by locals set among numbers of palm trees and on a 3000 m2 enclosed plot of land. The personal homestay is run by an European-Indian cooperation and our local hosts will be Katrina and Esther from the UK/Spain. Esther will cook delicious lunches for us and Katrina will be the one answering your e-mails, answering questions about life in India and about the area and she will run just about everything else onsite. It is a nice walk of 10 minutes or so to get to Varkala helipad and Varkala beach, and the nearest little super market is perhaps a 3 minute walk from Casa Eva Luna.

About Varkala

Some people say Varkala beach is one of the most splendid beaches in the world. And it is easy to understand why. There is this natural cliff formed in a half circle with fine white sand meeting salty waves below it. To get to the beach you need to walk serpent pathways down, and heading back after your swim, your ankles get some excercise, let me tell you. On the cliff there are numerous of restaurants and shops and there is a pathway following all along the full length of the cliff top. If you are into sunsets you will not be disappointed at Varkala Cliff. But Varkala is much more than a cliff and a beach, there is Janardhanaswarmy Temple, a significant hindu Vishnu temple on a hill top. There is also Varkala town, a proper Indian small town with a train station, local shops, hairdressers, markets, restaurants and street life. All for you to explore.

Getting there

The closest airport is in Trivandrum (or actually the tongue twisting full name is Thiruvananthapuram). There is also a train station right in Varkala, if you are the adventurous type. If you would like a transfer from the airport please contact Katrina at Casa Eva Luna with your flight details. (The transfer is not included in the price, it is approximately 1600 rupees.)
